About Our Hives
Our honey is produced by our own bees here in the beautiful West Sussex countryside.
Our hives are located across carefully chosen apiary sites at Midhurst, North Marden and Iping. These peaceful rural locations give our bees access to a wide variety of seasonal forage, including hedgerows, woodland flowers, fruit blossom, bramble, wildflowers and other local plants.
Because the available flowers change throughout the year, every batch of honey can be slightly different in colour, flavour and texture.
We manage our colonies ourselves throughout the seasons, from the first spring inspections through to the summer honey harvest and winter preparation. Our honey is collected in small batches, extracted carefully and jarred locally by us.
Nothing is added. It is simply:
100% pure West Sussex honey, produced by our bees and packed by us.
By purchasing from Bazzas Bees, you are supporting a small local beekeeping business and helping us continue to care for our bees and maintain healthy colonies in the Sussex countryside
Honey can range from almost clear and pale gold through to deep amber and rich brown — and much of that difference comes down to which flowers the bees have been visiting.Different plants produce different nectars, each with its own natural colour, flavour and aroma. So honey gathered from clover, bramble, lime, oilseed rape or wildflowers can all look and taste slightly different. The time of year, local forage and weather can also influence the finished honey, which is why even honey from the same apiary can vary from one harvest to the next.Lighter honeys are often delicate and mild, while darker honeys can have a deeper, richer flavour. That natural variation is one of the things we love most about real local honey — every harvest is a little taste of the countryside at that particular moment in time.
